President Cyril Ramaphosa recently announced that the government will increase the general threshold for companies to produce their own electricity (without a license). The threshold has been increased to 100MW without a license. According to Ramaphosa, companies who aim to generate 100MW would be able to sell to third parties but, they would have to abide to the regulations set by NERSA.
